So a teenage crow has been outside this week, causing much shenanigans. From what I’ve read, they just walk around causing trouble, because they can’t fly yet. Their mom just flies after them yelling at them to get back up in the tree, but instead they just stay out all night and expect to be fed dinner when they get home….such a lil hooligan!

Summer is starting and soon the Pluots shall be invading our California Farmers Markets. When I first moved to California, I was like the h-e-dubble hockey sticks is this fruit?! Then I bit into one, and sugar starbursts exploded from my eyes. I’m pretty positive I could sustain myself on a diet of Pluots, Peaches and Sfogliatelles!(And chicken fried steak….cmon now, I’m from Texas)

This reminded me of the time I killed my friend’s bathroom spider. (A spider you allow to live in the bathroom because it kills gnats)

She was really distraught over the event. So the next day I brought her a blueberry muffin and a sympathy card. I drew a spider hanging off the rose on the cover of the card. She started crying from laughing so hard….

Did this painting after remembering how the 6th grade girls at my school wanted to show how sad they were when Kurt Cobain died. So they put a bunch of black eyeliner around their eyes and wore their finest thrift shirts. Felt like it was very silly and terribly sad all at once. So many young music stars died during that generation. These days childhood idols just seem to self-destruct …..

“At Age 4, I watched as the ladle dripped sausage gravy all over the hot butter biscuits and felt more baptized at that moment, than I ever have since. By the time I reached Age 6, I knew my Abuelita’s chorizo and eggs could cure any ailment. Every day the year I turned 8, I prayed that my mother would fix a bacon quiche for dinner.. Finally at age 10, I found the holy grail at my local mall in the form of Hickory Farms Sausage. These are my crispy recollections of my religious years through my love of pork. Amen” - eliza kinkz
