This stop motion film is such a homage to silent movies its makes me giddy. Love how they followed the sunrise and sunset… (only online for 2 days!)
I’m my own PR Crew at SXSW for Chocolate Milk. Been sprinkling postcards all over town. Thanks AUSTIN for letting me promote my film “Chocolate Milk” in your awesome shops and other locales! (Psssst….Be on the lookout for the elusive STICKER postcard!!)
SXSW put the trailer to my Animation Short Film “Chocolate Milk” up!! So excited to be accepted there for my World Premiere.
This list is wildly accurate. I can’t find the for-sure source, but hopefully its true that it happened on this series….
So with my main character in Chocolate Milk, I made 3 different Character Model guides to chronicle her change in appearance. (Her name is “Izzy” BUT you never hear her referred to by name in my film! A lil trivia for you ha-cha!)
Her changes in appearance happen every time she enters the teen rehab center to signal she has gotten worst in her addiction. Personally, I really love the hair design in the 3rd model sheet.
In animation, a character’s look often stays the same as to not confuse the audience and for continuity purposes especially in TV shows. So I’m always excited when the opportunity comes up to go against the grain in animation. And this worked especially well with my film “Chocolate Milk”!
PS In other news, I’ve been pretty busy as I’m gearing up to teach an animation class at UCLA in July. So unfortunately some work on the film has been delayed. But its still moving along and will hopefully speed to the finish line in August!!
So in the coming months I’m going to post some about the process of how I made my film “Chocolate Milk”
I put up images of the same scene as it appears in my storyboard, animatic and Film so you can see the progression. When I was looking at the really old Storyboard image, it amazed me that it still pretty much looked like the final. A lot of times I actually like the Storyboard image more than the final product. Not just with my work, with most everyone’s work from big studios to other small artists like me. There just seems to be such a care-free feeling in these drawings.
My progress with this animation was starting off with a ton of notes of different ideas for scenes then slowly figuring out how to bring them all together. I definitely did more than a few animatics but I think it shows in how tight the story is. For those of you not familiar, an animatic is a series of still images edited together and displayed in sequence. And check out this Gorillaz Music Video Animatic if you want a good example.
And please be patient with for the Trailer. Still trying to edit my animation a bit more. :)

This is me water color painting my hand drawn animation for “Chocolate Milk. That was crazy town. Did the bulk of the painting on Sunday when the Art Center I have my studio at was pretty vacant so we were able to line the hallways.
Here is an image from my film “Chocolate Milk”. Done with Charcoal and watercolors on different layers. I can’t believe I’ll finally be done with this film in another month BECAUSE there is still wayyyy too much to do!!!! lol But I really love how its looking so far.
Here is an image from a while back when I was testing some scenes for my animation “Chocolate Milk”. I like it but it wasn’t what I was going for…
